Overview
This year's challenge seeks innovative ideas for orphan diseases and challenging targets.
Rare diseases affect a subset of the population, with between a handful of cases to hundreds of thousands (e.g. Cystic Fibrosis). There is, at times, an insufficient understanding of the underlying disease drivers, lack of appropriate preclinical disease models, and high costs and financial risks in developing new treatment approaches.
This theme is shared with challenging targets, where the relationship to disease is established, but where there are few or inefficient treatments, at times with a narrow safety margin. New targets and novel ways of targeting existing targets (target understanding, alternative modalities, reinventing the small molecule) all play a part in addressing these challenges.
NUVISAN has chosen this theme for our 2024 Innovation Challenge, to bring together innovators and investors, and foster new partnerships to overcome these hurdles.
The winners will have an opportunity to give a presentation to venture capitalists and receive scientific consultation from NUVISAN experts.
