Efficient cell line solutions for accelerated assay development 

Selecting the appropriate model system is essential for developing reliable and reproducible cell-based assays. Our cell-line platform offers a wide range of cell systems, including established cell lines, primary cells and iPSCs. In close collaboration with our technology platforms, we provide ready-to-use solutions such as reporter cell lines and 2D single-cell cultures, while also developing more complex systems like co-cultures and organoids that serve as disease-relevant human translational models. Our comprehensive cell-line platform is designed to accelerate and streamline your assay development process.

Cell line generation

We routinely generate cell lines tailored to various assay types upon request. By collaborating closely with you, we employ ideal strategies to obtain optimal cell lines for each project. Our stringent clone selection and quality control measures help ensure robust and highly sensitive cell lines. Additionally, we have established processes for cell line banking, quality control and subsequent expansion, providing you with comprehensive documentation. In our state-of-the-art facilities, we work with a wide range of cells, including:  

  • Mammalian cell lines  
  • Stem cells  
  • iPSCs  
  • Primary cells  
  • Organoids  
  • Fungi.  

Genetic Modifications

All genetic modifications that we perform in our laboratories comply with German biosafety levels 1 and 2. Our capabilities include:  

  • Classical recombinant overexpression  
  • Inducible gene expression (e.g., Tet-on, Tet-off)  
  • CRISPR–Cas9 genome editing for target knock-in and knock-out, as well as CRISPRa and CRISPRi
  • shRNA/siRNA knock-down approaches
  • Lentiviral transduction.  

Frozen assay-ready cells

The use of frozen, assay-ready cells has proven advantageous for high-throughput screening (HTS) campaigns and regular long-term testing. These cells can be used directly from ultra-low-temperature storage on the day of the assay. Validated frozen cell productions help reduce assay variability typically associated with continuous cell culture, such as contamination or clonal drift. We have successfully utilised this approach for over a decade. As part of our assay development process, we assess cell lines for their potential as frozen assay-ready cells. Additionally, we produce large quantities of frozen cells in-house to support entire HTS campaigns.
